The NAC (National Asthma Council) Spirometry Training Course is designed to provide participants with comprehensive training in the application, measurement and interpretation of expiratory spirometry in general practice.
There are three parts to the course:
Predisposing activity :- pre-reading in participants? own time
Structured small group learning: - 6 hour interactive workshop
Reinforcing activity: - self reflection in participants? own time
Course Outline ? Classroom setting
The presenters will provide an interactive 6 hour workshop covering:
o Introduction to spirometry
o Purpose of spirometry (Indications and contraindications)
o Spirometer specifications
o Choosing a spirometer
o Performing spirometry: theory and application
o Practical spirometry session
o Quality assurance
o Interpretation of spirometry
o Case discussions
