How Springs Medical Centre Improved Their Practice

Making positive changes to your practice can be tough. One local practice, however, experienced encouraging results by joining the Australian Primary Care Collaborative Program (APCC).
Jill Griffiths, from Springs Medical Centre in Raglan St Daylesford, explains.
"We spent a lot of time on the program, but it was very rewarding and enlightening. A practice can choose their level of participation.
"Our main benefit was that we tidied up our data. We created a diabetes register and a chronic heart disease register. That was huge.
The practice was also experiencing a severe back log of appointments.
"People were waiting months for an appointment, which was scary. After collaborating with other practices, we were able to implement better access for appointments. Patient access to GPs is much better now.
The APCC program is an exciting opportunity to introduce change and build practice capacity. It is a practical change program based on sound evidence with realistic ideas on how to bridge the gap between evidence and practice.
We want your practice to join. You'll need to contact me before the end of September to sign up for the first wave in November. You can call me on 5331 6303 or email .
Jill Griffiths is also happy to discuss the program, she can be contacted on 5348 2281 or . Thanks Jill!
