The St John of God Medi Marathon is returning to the shores of Lake Wendouree on Sunday, September 21st. There will be a half marathon, and a 10km walk/running event. Expect surprises around every bend!
The loop course incorporating the inside lane of Wendouree Parade and the Moneghetti track will once again be perfect for those wanting to post a fast time and others completing their own personal challenge. It is a perfect training run for those doing the Melbourne Half Marathon and Marathon on October 12.
Teams of four in the half Marathon will be competing for the Medicine Cup. A local team of girls won last year's event, the challenge will be who can take out the prize this year.
All competitors who complete their distance will receive a medal. Those entering before August 30 will receive a t-shirt. Once again through the generosity of Ballarat business there will be fantastic spot prizes.
The Medi Marathon is an opportunity for the Ballarat community and beyond to get involved in increasing their fitness and enjoying the company of others. This year the funds raised from the event will be directed to cardiac research.
We have all been touched in some way by losing loved ones or watching them suffer because of cardiac disease. The Medi Marathon will give us all the opportunity to help improve our own fitness and in turn help others improve their health.
